– Buyer at Independent Lumberyard
What is Marketplace?
Marketplace is the virtual LBM platform that speeds and organizes the communication between buyers and sellers of commodity lumber and building materials. Most LBM buying today involves emails and phone calls to negotiate and confirm a purchase, and very little is recorded in systems except for the final purchase order.
Marketplace enables buyers to:

- Socialize their needs and sellers to communicate their product availability.
- Chat to negotiate pricing and delivery time.
- Discuss detailed information like the specific mill that manufactured the product.
- Reinforce and maintain existing relationships with partner buyers or suppliers.
Marketplace trades are not public – all conversations between users are private and individual.
Marketplace is fast and intuitive for first-time users
Technology can be confusing, Marketplace keeps it simple. Yesler Marketplace is not a lumber provider – we are the technology to help you do what you do best.
Marketplace Features for Buyers
Request a Load in One Click
Choose a load from Seller Offers with one click. Or use the Order Builder to create a request for quotes from sellers and place it on your personal dashboard. Whether you’re ordering dimensional lumber, OSB, or panels, Marketplace is the fastest way to build your order.

Offers Matched to Your Needs
Request a load and matching offers are presented in your dashboard. You can add these lumber suppliers to quote your request, or ignore matches and add suppliers from your own network.
Communicate with Preferred Suppliers
You utilize Yesler Marketplace to communicate with your preferred suppliers and can also extend your supplier network. Over 90% of sellers invited by a buyer use Yesler to respond without any assistance. Yesler makes it easy to communicate with your existing supplier partners, and you can also find new suppliers offering the products you buy in your area. Easily find supplier offers and message the sellers directly about their available products.
Compare and Sort Quotes
To determine the best deal, you can easily compare and sort multiple quotes received from sellers. Based on studies of current Yesler Marketplace users, we often see that many buyers add multiple sellers to most requests. Why? When 5 sellers quote a needed product, the range of prices quoted between the low and high is typically 15% or greater. By adding competitive suppliers to quote for specific needs, buyers can ensure they are getting fair prices on their purchases. Quotes for a product can be easily compared and sorted by price or delivery date, allowing you to quickly identify and execute the best buy for your needs.
Save Time Managing the Chaos of Lumber Buying
All of your sellers’ proposals show up in one place, including any changes a seller makes to a proposal as you negotiate online. Chat directly with each seller to negotiate, discuss any order details, and clarify terms. The old way of using email chains and phone calls is hard to organize. Yesler saves your time and helps keep all of your information at your fingertips.
All of Your Lumber Buying Remembered
With Marketplace, all of your buying history - order confirmations, purchase orders, chat conversations, and competitive quotes - are easy to find from your dashboard. For confirmed loads, you attach a PO and the seller attaches their confirmation and both are easily accessible from one place. Your conversation history with each confirmed seller will be there as well, allowing you to look up your discussion in case of confusion or dispute. No ERP integration is required, and we don't require you to set up credit or any payment through us. Yesler Marketplace keeps it easy.

Marketplace Features for Sellers
Post Your Available LBM Products
Posting your available products allows buyers in your coverage area to see the lumber and panels you have to offer. Choose whether to show specific prices and quantities available. You always maintain control of who you sell to. When a buyer selects your load, it is a request for a quote. You know the buyer, you choose to quote and set the price appropriate for that customer.
Send Offer Lists for Customers to Select Loads with a Mouse Click
You can easily craft branded email offerings from your offer lists in Yesler to send to specific buyers. You set the price for each unique emailed list and can add customized messages and your company logo. Buyers can then easily click loads from the email to quickly initiate communication with you regarding your offering and to execute a purchase.
Get Matched to Buyer Requests
Expand your network simply by posting seller offers in Yesler. Your seller offers are eligible to be matched to buyer load requests. When a buyer builds an order, Yesler’s algorithm searches Seller Offers posted on Yesler for the best matches. These matches are placed directly on the buyer’s dashboard immediately when they initiate the request. The buyer can then select you as a seller to provide a quote.
View Inbound Lumber Requests Including Details and Status
With Marketplace, you receive notifications when buyers have a request for you to quote. You can then chat with the customer to confirm any details before finalizing a purchase. You can readily see when customers view your quotes and conversations to keep the deal moving forward. Buyers and sellers alike find the ability to communicate over Marketplace’s chat to be a big time saver over using email and the phone to get deals done.
Improve Relationships with Lumber Buyers.
Do you sometimes find yourself to be the third or fourth call from a buyer? Get to the top of the buyer’s list with Marketplace. Marketplace makes it easier for buyers to find you and your available products, helping you to expand your network of buyers. Unlike past exchanges attempted in the LBM industry, sellers and buyers always know who they are working with in Yesler, and open communication on Marketplace helps to build stronger relationships between the buyer and the seller. By being active on Marketplace, you open yourself up to expanded relationships with existing and new buyers.
